PayPal

PayPal is well-known but few feel an emotional connection to it. When a financial empowerment brief landed, the answer wasn’t generic money-saving tips or a list of product features. We wanted to show the progressive, culturally-aware side of PayPal. A brand not afraid to engage with the real issues affecting people’s financial lives.

The idea

A podcast-driven content series exploring the real-life impact of money through candid, in-depth conversations. Led by Candice Brathwaite – known for her real, unfiltered perspective – the campaign unpacked financial topics through personal stories, making PayPal’s promise of financial empowerment feel tangible and relevant.

We toured Candice across major UK podcasts, where she and various creators discussed the messy realities of how money shapes lives: from feminism and financial freedom with Deborah Frances-White, to professional success with Katherine Ryan, to family dynamics with Jessie and Lennie Ware, to race and class with Geoff Lloyd and Jamie Laing.

Through full-length episodes, audio segments and bespoke social content, we wove PayPal’s product features into these candid conversations, demonstrating their value in everyday life without feeling forced. Candice and Deborah Frances-White were so invested in PayPal’s role in their lives, we even had to ask them to dial back the brand mentions.
